Valerie Dacheux

Ms. Valerie is French, and moved from France to Southern California 11 years ago. Passionate about human language, its grammar, its development and acquisition, she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Language and Communication at the University of Grenoble in France. She worked for 15 years as a Communications Manager for a company in France. Prior to that, she was a journalist for the local newspaper. When she moved to Southern California with her family, she naturally started teaching French to Anglophones and Francophones. She has three children, from ages 14 to 24.

Ms. Valerie has extensive experience in teaching French as a foreign and native language. She has been working in Orange County the past 11 years for language schools and as a private tutor. She teaches French to adults, teenagers and children of all ages, and all levels ranging from beginners to high school students preparing AP exams, to advanced students needing to maintain or perfect their French skills. For 8 years, she was a teacher, and Vice President, at a French school in Newport Beach.

Ms. Valerie regularly prepares her students for special French exams such as AP French, SAT, the Delf or Dalf. She is constantly conducting research on the French language, whether it is in grammar mysteries, phonetics, etymology or linguistics. She likes to mix her course with the history of France, its geography, customs, culture, etc.

Aside from teaching and being a mom, Ms. Valerie enjoys yoga, running, hiking, being in nature, playing the piano, travelling, and writing.  Valerie is looking forward to sharing her language and culture with students at the Arbor.
