McKayla Menzel

Ms. Menzel recently moved to California from her hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan to pursue an MA TESOL degree at Pepperdine University. She is certified to teach English, Drama, and Speech in both Michigan and California, and has taught Middle School and High School English and Art. Ms. Menzel has also spent time teaching intensive reading and comprehension courses at the  K-12 level. Driven by a passion for the theatre and a belief that learning should be fun, she embeds drama and play-based learning strategies in her teaching.
What Ms. Menzel loves about literature and language arts is the ability to connect with and find the reflections of ourselves and others in the characters. Reading and ELA teachers have a unique opportunity to impact young hearts and minds, helping them explore diverse experiences that build thoughtfulness and empathy for others, fostering the joy of learning.
When not in the classroom, Ms. Menzel loves reading, acting, drinking tea, and spending as much time near the ocean as possible. In her spare time, Ms. Menzel is also an advocate for people with invisible illnesses and disabilities.
