Julio Escobar

Teacher

Mr. Escobar’s passion for the past 15 years has been teaching science in various
school settings and at various grade levels, ranging from third grade through high
school. Before teaching, he worked in the field of public health for many years,
applying the knowledge he gained from a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences
from Columbia University and a master’s from UCLA in Public Health. Mr. Escobar’s
approach to teaching science is an inquiry-based approach where students develop
their understanding of science concepts by undertaking hands-on investigations of
natural phenomena. He is also passionate about teaching science literacy, which is
generally defined as the knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts required
for personal decision making, participating in civic, career and cultural affairs.
