Orange County native Joelle Prate has spent the past 10 years working in public middle and high schools in many different classroom and leadership positions. Her experiences include serving as the coordinator for an honors academy that focused on students from primarily disadvantaged backgrounds south of Los Angeles and leading many groups and clubs- including time as the science fair coordinator for Jurupa Unified in Riverside County. She holds a master’s degree in educational technology and is passionate about blended learning in science education.
In the classroom, Ms. Prate has worked with students at all levels teaching biology and life science and sharing her love of the natural world. She loves developing meaningful inquiry experiences for her students and building student efficacy and curiosity- especially using technology.
In her free time she loves teaching her two pre-school aged sons about the natural world and relaxing with her college professor husband, dog Sadie, and cat Gatsby. She’s a huge Beatles fan, loves the beach, and bakes from scratch whenever the opportunity presents itself. She also enjoys cheering for the Angels, Steelers, and Ducks (depending on the season).
