Mrs. Zahl was born in New Jersey, across from NYC, and grew up moving around the United States. She attended many different schools, where she learned a lot about the history & geography of our country from different perspectives. She spent much of her time reading and developed a deep love of books. This led Mrs. Zahl to study English Literature at the University of Colorado where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree. Her love of learning was the reason she decided to go back to school and get her Master’s degree in Education. She wanted to become a teacher and share her passion for learning with children. She taught elementary school for several years and also homeschooled for awhile. Then 14 years ago, she moved to Irvine, CA for her husband’s job with their 2 children, who are now adults. Mrs. Zahl stayed busy volunteering for her kids’ activities, organized a National History Day program and taught PE, ESL & Reading, with an emphasis on comprehension and critical thinking skills.
She’s a high energy person who loves meeting new people and learning new things. Mrs. Zahl also loves to cook and travel. She’s been to 10 different countries so far & hopes to visit more in the future. And when she’s not reading, she enjoys outdoor activities such as biking, swimming, paddleboarding, hiking, skiing & walking her new puppy. She’s very excited to be a part of The Arbor Community & looks forward to meeting her new students.
