Annette Stanley

Teacher

Mrs. Stanley grew up in Southern California and South Africa with her sister, fellow Arbor science teacher, Carolyn Maffia. Blessed with a mother that allowed her to explore all kinds of arts and crafts during childhood, Annette eventually pursued her art degree at Cal State University, Long Beach. Earning both a bachelor’s degree and teaching credential in art, she was hired by the Long Beach Unified School District to teach Art and Home Economics on Catalina Island. While teaching art on Catalina, she met and married her husband, Mark Stanley. The Stanleys grew a family and eventually settled in Yorba Linda. The Stanleys have continued to summer on Catalina, volunteering at Campus by the Sea summer camp facility, with Annette holding numerous roles including Arts and Crafts Director, Camp Artist in Residence, and helping host art retreats. She also has held several art positions in North Orange county including teaching art to older adults through North Orange County Community College District, teaching elementary art at Vineyard School, giving private art instruction, and substitute teaching.  Annette’s current pursuits include teaching art classes at Mercy Arts Studio in Laguna Niguel, where she teaches art journaling with multimedia, water color, and batik art.
